Babies in the Big City

Yesterday afternoon my good friend Kathryn drove all the way from Mississippi and showed up on my doorstep. Poor Kathryn. She moved to the Delta a year ago. Oh, you've never heard of "The Delta"? Well, that's probably because about 17 people live in the whole part of the state. Kathryn has had a bit of culture shock. I understand. I myself have lived in an extremely remote and rural part of the country. Lets just say, it's hard when you get excited because a town has a Super WalMart instead of a reg'lar old WalMart. Anyway, she is here for the weekend and plans to spend it dining her way through all her old haunts: The Flying Biscuit, Universal Joint, YDFM and more.

Her first culinary adventure was upon arrival, when friendly Brian from Madras Chettinaad delivered our sag paneer, chicken korma, and naan to my door (have I mentioned I love where I live?) As Kathryn and I neglected our children to gorge on the delicacies, our children ate their dinner. Kathryn's baby Bennett is just 2 1/2 months younger than Roxy, but with the way she was doting on him, you'd think she'd given birth to him. She even decided it was her job to feed Bennett his applesauce. And she actually did a fairly good job of it, too, when she was aiming for his mouth instead of his left eye.

In other exciting news... what does this heap of small appliances on my kitchen table mean?

A. We are moving.
B. I am having a yardsale.
C. I am finally getting new countertops.
D. I have way too many small appliances.
Stay tuned and see!

I really hope it's not A but C for both of our sakes!

I agree with Jenny. I hope it isn't C (even if we don't walk over to your house as often as we should).
